NBAGM Free Agency
Any player that is not on a opposing teams in the NBAGM will have UFA status. When you decide that you want to sign a UFA you must sign him to a contract, and must offer at least the league minimum contract to get the bidding process started. The league minimum is determined by the number of years that player has been in the NBA.
League Years

Max - 4 years
Years in the league (not including current year) - Minimum

League Max Contracts
League Max Contracts
Max Level Contracts: A max contract from the original team is 5 years and the player is automatically signed with his original team. If the original team declines to offer a max contract, a max contract from a team other than the original team is 4 years at the max rate. If two or more teams bid max level contracts, then the team with the higher waiver wire number wins the player for the max contract. You can structure the contract however you want, but you can only go up or down in $2 million increments.
2012/13 Max Contract will 20M for all players
Restricted Free Agents are free agents who have been in the league for 3 years or less. Any player signed with RFA status must be in his 3rd year or less on the last year of the contract. ONE year of NBA experiences means that a player has appeared in at least 50 games in a season.
Bidding Process
-To sign an UFA, first post the players name, position, AND current team in the designated section along with your bid. This player will now be open to bidding from any owner. Bids are flat annual salary figures, therefore you cannot backload or frontload a salary.
Here is how bids must look like:
Team Name, years of bid and contract length (bids must be in years).
There will not be a limit in UNRESTRICTED free agency on how many times a team can place a bid, however, a bid cannot be rescinded. A bid must stand without being challenged for 24 hours before a free agent is won. Bids must up the previous bid by at least $100,000. Invalid bids will be deleted and will not count against the clock.
The determining factor for who wins a bidding war in free agency will be determined by the largest yearly average salary. For example: a 2 year contract worth 6 million dollars would equate an average of 3 million dollars per year. That contract would be worth more than a 4 year offer at 8 million dollars. Though the second contract offer is a bigger aggregate contract, the shorter term is more front end money that will give the first contract greater value. In case of a yearly average tie, the longer term contract then would be the winning bid.
If multiple teams offer max contract, then waiver wire priority will determine the winner of the bidding war for that given player.
You can scatter as many bids around as you would like, to however many players you would like. But be warned, once a valid bid is placed it cannot be withdrawn, you are responsible for that bid. If you wind up getting more players in free agency than your allotted roster space or your salary cap space will allow, you will have to make appropriate roster cuts along with appropriate cap penalties in order to get down to league rule mandates.
A signed free agent may not be traded for a two week period.
IMPORTANT: YOU MAY NOT PLACE A BID ON A PLAYER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CAP TO TAKE IN HIS CONTRACT. YOU MAY NOT PLACE A BID WHILE ANTICIPATING A PLAYER RELEASE OR TRADE. IF YOU DONT HAVE THE CAP, DO NOT MAKE THE BID PERIOD. CAP SPACE THAT YOU HAVE ACQUIRED VIA TRADE DOES NOT BECOME AVAILABLE UNTIL THE TRADE HAS BEEN APPROVED.
Restricted Free Agency
The winning bid has to stand unchallenged for 24 hours. Also, the owner of the player who has RFA status will be allowed to match the winning bid as long as he does so within a TWO DAY period. You may offer a MAXIMUM of four years to any RFA. If a team decides not to match the winning RFA bid then the team that won the bid will receive the player.
Retirement
If a player retires, you are responsible for 30% of all the guaranteed money owed for every year of his contract.
"Player Death Rule"
In the event of the death of a player currently under contract, the player may be released without a cap hit, and may he rest in peace.
