NBA GM's
I understand that many of you were disappointed with they way we determined contract values in this free agency period, by taking the highest average salary per year and awarding the highest bidder. First let me say that I too am not entirely comfortable with this format, I think in some ways how we determine contract values is one of the weaker parts of salary fantasy leagues. I simply adopted this formula because it is a standard method in the many leagues that I have been apart of. I thought about just adopting the total size of contract approach, but that also has its downfalls as well.
Let me just say that your concerns have not gone un-noticed and have also not fallen upon deaf ears. As league manager my responsibility is to secure the long term health of the league, and addressing these concerns by members of the league is one of them. My decision to not address that problem at the current stage of this league was do to the fact that I have already put hundreds of personal man hours into this league just to get it up and running, and I wasn't quite ready yet to reinvent the wheel. Especially because we we're dealing with a retraction draft with lower level talent. I thought the current system would be suitable to get this league started.
With all that being said, I am willing to listen to ideas from GM's on how we can better determine contract values next off-season. Just remember, what ever idea you propose, it has to be a relatively easy idea that doesn't overwhelm certain members cognitive abilities and quite honestly it has to be easily explained to potential new GM's joining the league. It has to be even more easily explained to yours truly because I am no mathematician, I can argue politics and religion all day... LOL... but mathematical formulas are my downfall. You can put your ideas under the concerns and suggestion folder and let the discussion begin for the next years free agency period where big name free agents will certainly be a big part of this league.
Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions and good luck to everyone on the up coming season.
